Songs from the Elderly Gentlemen's Cabaret

Join us for an encounter with the creations of the most famous elderly gentlemen in Poland – Jeremi Przybora and Jerzy Wasowski. Excellent vocalists accompanied by the Szczecin's Philharmonic Orchestra will present interpretations of their songs.

Elderly Gentlemen's Cabaret made its television debut in 1958. The cabaret's programs, which seems incredible today, were performed live – only the songs were recorded in advance and performed from playback. It was thanks to the songs – with catchy melodies by Jerzy Wasowski and unforgettable lyrics by Jeremi Przybora – that the cabaret gained such enormous popularity in Poland, and many quotes and gags entered everyday language. Far from politics, the absurd humor tinged with a hint of nostalgia gained the cabaret crowds of fans and after so many years it still delights new listeners.
