Szczecin – Neubrandenburg

Najsławniejszą z symfonii Szostakowicza wykonają dwa zespoły: Orkiestra Symfoniczna Filharmonii w Szczecinie oraz orkiestra Neubrandenburger Philharmonie. Monumentalne dzieło trwające przeszło 80 minut ma rozbudowaną obsadę instrumentalną o głośnym, jeśli nie wręcz hałaśliwym charakterze.

The most famous of Shostakovich's symphonies will be perform by two ensembles: Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra and Neubrandenburger Philharmonie Orchestra. This monumental work (its duration is over 80 minutes) has an extensive cast of loud instrumental, if not downright noisy character. The conductors – Kusewicki, Stokowski, Ormandy with the best orchestras in the world waited in line to be able to perform this composition. The honor of the American premiere was granted to Arturo Toscanini, the conductor of La Scala and the Metropolitan Opera. The Szczecin interpretation of this score, rich in sentiment and topped with loud orchestral fireworks, will rest in the hands of conductor Stefan Malzew.
